Brief presentation of the estate :
Domaine Capmartin is located in the Gers, in the town of Maumusson-Laguian.
In 1987, Guy Capmartin decided leave the family estate to create his own estate and his own wine: the result is Domaine Capmartin.
Today the estate covers an area of 18 hectares and produces a wide range of wines under the Madiran, Pacherenc de Vic-Bilh and Bearn AOC and the Côtes de Gascogne PGI.
Domaine Capmartin has a young, high density vineyard, on clay-limestone and clay-silica soils. Vinifications are carried out in a specific fermentation room where the cement tanks are entirely open at the top, permitting cap punching operations. The wines are consequently intensely fruity, with rounded, full-bodied tannins. The wine is vinified in 500L tanks, for improved wine-wood balance.
In the mid 2000s, Domaine Capmartin chose to embark on healthier, more environmentally-friendly growing methods, and motivated by personal conviction, the estate decided to request organic certification. The 2011 vintage is the result of the first year of organic winemaking.
